RIZAL, Cahayan — Nagwagi ang 21 taong gulang na alkalde sa bayan ng Rizal, Cagayan na si Jamila Ruma laban sa dalawa nitong katunggali sa puwesto sa katatapos lamang na National and Local Elections 2025. Ang batang alkalde ang nagtuloy sa kandidatura ng amang pinaslang na si Rizal Mayor si Atty. Joel Ruma. Dahil dito, si Jamila ngayon ang pinakabatang alkalde sa buong bansa na humahawak ng pinakamataas na posisyon sa isang bayan. Si Jamila ay nagtapos ng kursong Bachelor of Arts in Development Studies sa De La Salle University Manila. Isa siyang consistent dean’s lister sa kaniyang paaralan at nakakuha rin ng Best Thesis at Best Thesis Presenter nang ito ay nagtapos sa kanyang pag-aaral. Bagama’t namulat na si Jamila sa mundo ng pulitika dahil kapwa lider sa kanilang bayan ang kanyang mga magulang na nagsilbi at nagsisilbi ngayon bilang alkalde at bise alkalde ng Rizal, isang malaking hamon sa kanya ang ipagpatuloy ang sinimulang laban ng kanyang pinaslang na ama. Ang malagim na insidente na kumitil sa buhay ng kanyang ama noong Abril 23, 2025 sa isang campaign rally sa Illuru, Rizal ang nagtulak sa kanya para suungin ang daang bagama’t pamilyar ay isang malaking responsibilidad. Sa kanyang mensahe sa isang Facebook post, ipinarating ni Jamila ang kanyang pasasalamat sa lahat ng sumuporta at nagtiwala sa kanilang laban. Ang serbisyong sapat at tapat ang siyang aasahan ng kanilang mga kababayan mula sa kanilang pamamahala sa bayan ng Rizal. “Gusto nga ipadatang kikkayu ya napapusu nga appa-balas ki ngammin ya nassuporta, nagtiwala, en nangup-uppun kiyaw nga laban tida entre ya Team RUMA. Tuloy ya serbisyong SAPAT at TAPAT nga pinamegapuwanan en nebtang ya Ama.,” saad ni Mayor Ruma. Aniya, hawak niya ang pangako ng kanyang ama na panatilihing ligtas at masaya ang kanilang bayan. Ngayon, sa tulong ng kanyang ina na nagwagi rin bilang Vice Mayor na si Atty. Brenda Ruma, sabay nilang ipagpapatuloy ang legasiyang inumpisahan at ang pagmamalasakit sa kanilang bayan na iniukit na ni Mayor Joel Ruma sa puso ng kanyang mga kababayan. (Kane Manaoat)

By Pigeon Lobien BAGUIO CITY -The longest serving politician who was absent the last two terms is back. “I am happy,” said the former two time three term mayor and three term congressman Atty. Mauricio Domogan in his initial message to a group of journalists. Domogan leads all other candidates with 45,767 total votes against his closest pursuer, Isabelo Coasalan, Jr. with 32,690 vote. This as third term seeking Mayor Benjamin Magalong leads Rep. Mark Go substantially, 55,497 against 42,146. This as Domogan and Magalong quashed the dynastic effort of the Go couple, an unprecedented attempt to win the top two posts in the city. “Congratulations sa winners! Thank you sa lahat. I’m very happy I was given (a) chance to share my ideas and I’m proud in helping stop the dynasty project,” said losing congressional candidate Francis Rae Camtugan. Domogan said that he ran to stop the Go couple from winning as mayor and congressman. He waited for the final day actually to file his candidacy. Third term seeking vice mayor Faustino Olowan is also topping councilor Mylen Yaranon where he leads the three term councilor by a mile. For the city council, nine old timers returned with three newbies joining the ranks. The winning city councilors are No.1 Edison Bilog (58,218), No.2 Joel Alangsab (57,174); No.3 Jose Molintas (56 196); No.4 Leandro Yangot (55 972); No.5 Vladimir Cayabas (53,461); No.6 Peter Fianza (51,602); No.7 Van Dicang (49,434); No.8 Fred Bagbage (48,642); No.9 Paolo Salvosa (48,544); No.10 Lourdes Tabanda (47,807); No. 11 Yuri Weygan (47,054) and No.12 Elmer Datuin (46,036).

Comelec officers led by COMELEC Zambales Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Cristina Guiao-Garcia (left) raised the hand of gobernatorial re-electionist Hermogenes Ebdane after winning for the third term as governor of Zambales. Assisting the proclamation was Zambales School Div. Supt. Dr. William Roderick Fallorin. Ebdane garnered 306,367 votes, to secure his post in the Capitol Building from sole rival Chito Balintay who received only 30,857 votes. Meanwhile, Zambales’ Nanay Bing Stays, Zambales 2nd District Congresswoman Doris Bing Maniquiz, was officially proclaimed by Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Cristina T. Guiao-Garcia (extreme left) her second term at 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13, after securing a landslide victory over his sole opponent. Maniquiz received 173,704 votes, while his challenger Atty. Opisyal nang ipinahayag ng Provincial Board of Canvassers ang pagkapanalo ni Pangasinan Governor Ramon V. Guico III sa 2025 elections. Ito na ang kanyang pangalawang termino. Si Guico ay nakakuha ng botong 875,030, kumpara sa katunggali nito si Amado Espino III, na 778,477 votes. Landslide victory naman ang tinamo ni Vice Governor Mark Lambino, na may botong 1,014,887, kumpara kay Noel Nacar sa botong 382,067. “Ang aking muling pagkahalal ay dahil sa inyong tiwala at walang sawang suporta. Ipagpapatuloy natin ang ating mga proyekto para sa tuluy-tuloy na pag-unlad ng ating lalawigan,” pahayag ni Governor Guico.

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet — Landslide victory was achieved by the relectionist candidates of Benguet province. In the initial results of the polls, Congressman Eric Yap, with 144,093 votes, is miles ahead of his opponent Tagel Felipe, with 62,371 votes. Yap’s groups that follow him are the re-election of Governor Melchor Diclas, with 116,212 votes, while in the Vice Governorship, No.1 Board Member Marie Rose Fongwan-Kepes won, with 116,169 votes. In District 1 of Benguet, Sander Fianza, Johannes Amuasen, Chairmaine Molintas, Thomas Wales, Myrna Nazarro, Jani Galutan, Jhonar Rebutazo and Lison Latawan, Jr. are leading. In District 2 are Ruben Tinda-an, Romeo Salda, Manny Fermin, Armando Lauro, Neptali Camsol, Frenzel Ayong, Jim Botiwey and Joel Tingbaoen. Winners of 13 Municipality In the capital town of La Trinidad, Roderick Awingan won Mayor, Vice Mayor Guiller Galwan, while in Sangguniang Bayan members were Nestor Fongwan, Jr.; Ted Walang, Belmer Elis, Jayson Dangwa, Bartolome Baldas, Jr., Horacio Ramos, Jr., Boyet Tereng and Tyrone Diaz.
