By Danny Estacio TAYABAS CITY, Quezon- iniulat ni City Mayor Lovelyn Reynoso-Pontioso ang kaniyang nagampanan nitong 2023 sa taunang city state of the city address (SOCA)  na ginanap sa Atrium ng New City Hall noong Hulyo 13. “Simula ng mapalipat sa aking balikat ang mabigat na tungkulin bilang isang Punong Lungsod ay buong pusong inilaan ko ang aking sarili sa pagpapatuloy  ng Serbisyong Reynoso sa gabay ng Gobyernong may Puso o acronym na H-E-A-R-T: Health, Edukasyon at Ekonomiya,Agrikultura, Resources, Turismo, Transportasyon at Teknolohiya”., ayon kay Reynoso-Pontioso sa pambungad nitong mensahe. Sa pangkalusugan ang pagpapatuloy ng “SweetHeart Club” upang pangalagaan ang kalusugan ng ating mga Tayabasin may diabetes at sakit sa puso. Gayundin ang pangangalaga sa mga buntis hanggang sa panganganak, pag-iwas at pagkontrol sa iba’t ibang karamdaman, pagkakaloob ng salamin sa mata at iba pang mga serbisyong pangkalusugan at nagdagdag ng doctor,” kaakibat nito ang mga programa at proyekto upang patuloy na isaayos ang mga pasilidad at kagamitan upang higit na mapagbuti ang paglilingkod sa ating mga kababayang higit na nangangailangan”, ayon pa sa alkalde. Dagdag pa dito ang pinaigting sa 66 na barangay na malalayo at liblib sa Lungsod ng Tayabas ang pagbibigay ng serbisyong medikal sa inilunsad na Mobile Health and Medical Emergency Response Team (MH-MERT) sa pamamagitan ng Mobile Clinic, at nasa mahigit sa 29,000 ang nabiyayaan ng free medical consultations, medications at tumanggap ng iba’t ibang laboratory services, kasabay ng paglulunsad ng Operation Minor Bukol, Tayabas XL Club, Snakebite Assistance Center, Serbisyong Reynoso Medical Assistance Program o ang tinatawag na SRMAP, Gandang Walang Kupas o ang Menopause Wellness Club, at Bulilit Health Workers. Pinarangalan bilang Most Outstanding Performance Award in Oral Health Care Management mula sa Department of Health – Center for Health Development Region IV-A(CALABARZON). Isa sa 10 lungsod sa Pilipinas na kinilala bilang Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner on Nutrition (CROWN) Award para sa taong 2019, 2021 at 2022 sa ginanap na 2023 National Nutrition Awarding Ceremony sa Manila Hotel. Kinilala bilang Overall Best Performing Local Government Unit in Health 2023 ng Quezon provincial government. Gayundin ang Gawad AMHOP (Association of Municipal Health Officer of the Philippines) 2024, isang parangal sa Pagiging Malikhain sa Pagagapay sa Pagbabago sa Larangan ng Kalusugan (Most Innovative Award) bilang pagkilala sa programa at proyekto ng MHMERT. Bukod pa ang Plaque of Recognition bilang Nutrition Champion City Nutrition Committee mula kay Quezon Governor Kgg.Angelina “Doktora Helen” Tan sa isinagawang awarding sa ” Barangay Nutrition Scholar Convention 2024 sa Quezon Convention Center, sa Lucena City. Sa larangan ng edukasyon, ipinagpatuloy ang improvement ng Colegio de la Ciudad de Tayabas na may 800 estudyante ang kasalukuyang iskolar ng Serbisyong Reynoso na nag-aaral base sa curricular programs katulad ng Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education, Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship at Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management. “Bilang Tagapangulo ng Local School Board ng Lungsod ng Tayabas ay aking pinasinayaan ang pagtatayo ng Tayabas City National High School (TCNHS) sa Barangay Lakawan at Talolong Integrated School sa Barangay Talolong”. Maraming Tayabasin at karatig lugar ang nasasabik sa pagbubukas ng modernong Satellite Market na itinayo sa Barangay Wakas na ginugulan ng lokal na pondo na dagdag kasiglahan sa ekonomiya,ayon sa Alkalde. Base sa datus ng Office of the Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator- Quezon, pumangalawa ang Tayabas City sa Top 5 Local Government Unit (LGU) with most new businesses mula noong 2021 hanggang 2024 na nakapagtala ng mahigit sa 1500 na mga bagong binuksan at nairehistrong negosyo. “At ang pagbubukas ng Mother’s Wonderland sa bahagi ng Barangay Calumpang sa publiko ay di kalaunan ay dadagsain mula sa mga kalapit bayan at lalawigan”, dagdag pa ni Pontioso. Ayon pa sa kaniya na upang mapaunlad ang pamumuhay ng ating mga kababayan ang Lokal na Pamahalaan ay patuloy na sumusuporta sa Sustainable Livelihood Program sa pamamagitan ng Business Management Skills Development Training at Self-Employment Assistance Program o mas kilala bilang Pahiram Puhunan. Nagkakaroon ng Pahiram Puhunan upang mabigyan sila ng pagkakataon na magkaroon ng pagkakakitaan o hanapbuhay. Ang karaniwang benepisyaryo ng programa ang mga may-ari ng Sari-Sari Store, Canvassers at naglalako ng mga pagkain sa lansangan. Ang Tayabas Community Multi-Purpose Cooperative ang nangunguna sa mga ito batay sa laki ng assets na umabot sa mahigit sa isang bilyong piso. Sa taong 2023 ang Lokal na Pamahalaan ng Tayabas ay naglaan ng P4 -milyon  bilang Cooperative Capital Assistance Program sa tatlong kooperatiba bilang dagdag kapital o puhunan na tinanggap ng Tayabas City Transport Service and MultiPurpose Cooperative, Tayabas Community Multi-Purpose Cooperative at Government Employees of Tayabas Multi-Purpose Cooperative. Gayundin ang Gender and Development Capital Assistance Program na pinondohan ng halagang P2,480,000.00 at ang pagkakaloob ng 18 Brand New Heavy-Duty Sewing Machines sa labingwalong kababaihang miyembro o kamay-ari ng kooperatiba na engaged in the textile/garment business. Matagumpay ding naisagawa ang 22 full qualification and non-qualification livelihood trainings sa pakikipagtulungan ng TESDA at  565 ns residente ang naging benepisyaryo. Ang Tayabas City ay may maunlad na Agrikultura upang tiyakin ang seguridad ng pagkain. Kaya sa pamamagitan ng Office of the City Agriculturist walang humpay ang pamamahagi ng mga binhi, biik, kalabaw at kagamitang pansaka upang panatilihin ang kalidad at mataas na produksyon. Tuloy-tuloy ang pamamahagi ng Ulang, Tilapia at Ornamental Fingerlings sa mga Fish Farmers sa Lungsod ng Tayabas. Gayundin ang farm machinery gaya tractors at rice thresher, distribution of fruit-bearing seedlings, native pigs and native chickens, corn and fertilizer dispersals, saad pa ni Pontioso. Ipinagmalaki din ng alkalde ang Tayabas City na kinilala  bilang “Home of Culture and the Arts of Quezon Province” ng Quezon government noong taong 2019. “Nakamit ang pagkilalang ito sapagkat kung inyong mapapansin ay napakarami nating makasaysayang cultural landmarks, tradisyon at malikhaing-sining maging teatro, pagkanta at pagpinta na cultural at historical appropriate sa lahat kaagapay ang Tayabas Culture and Arts Office at mga non-government organizations tulad ng Susi ng Tayabas,SICAP at iba pa ”ani ni Pontioso. Iniult pa niya na naging matagumpay ang Mayohan Festival 2024 na nakapagtala ng mahigit sa 174,000 na same-day tourist arrivals at nasa 33,000

A quarry operator in Quezon complies with the cease-and-desist order

By Danny Estacio   PAGBILAO, Quezon- A quarry operator is complying with the recommendation of the Provincial Mining Regulatory Board (PMRB) following a cease-and-desist order issued at Barangay Palsabangon, here. Michael Luis Ong owned the lot with an area of less than five hectares and was represented by his father as operator. According to the order, the operator must comply with ensuring the operations strictly adhere to the agreed-upon products, and implement measures to mitigate environmental impact, such as proper disposal of uprooted trees and rock debris, regular maintenance of road access, and siltation ponds to prevent sediment runoff; access and mitigate the risk posed to vendors and nearby communities, particularly those vulnerable to landslide due to proximity to quarry operations. The action of the PMRB was based on the complaint of the residents which also called the attention of municipal mayor Gigi Portes who quickly acted. Barangay chairman Lito Merle said the quarry is not the cause of flooding in the said area. He added that even though there was no quarry operation before, the area was flooded due to the rising flood water of the Palsabangon River and the hightide of Tayabas Bay. SMC nagbigay ng Leica Cryostat Machine sa Quezon Provincial Hospital Network

LUCENA CITY, Quezon — Pormal nang ipinagkaloob sa Quezon Provincial Hospital Network – Quezon Medical Center (QPHN-QMC) ang bagong Leica Cryostat Machine 1860 na mula kay San Miguel Corporation (SMC) President and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Ramon S. Ang. Sa ginanap na programa ngayong araw ng Biyernes, Hulyo 5, taos-pusong pinasalamatan ni Governor Doktora Helen Tan si Mr. Ang sa walang sawang pakikipagbalikatan upang makapagbigay ng iba’t-ibang tulong sa buong lalawigan ng Quezon. Ang Cryostat ay ginagamit upang ipreserve ang mga tissue samples gamit ang mababang temperatura, at para rin ito sa mas mabisang pagsusuri ng iba’t-ibang sakit partikular na ang cancer. Ayon naman kay QPHN-QMC Chief of Hospital Dr. Juan Eugenio Fidel Villanueva, ang makinang ito ay malaking tulong upang mapalawak pa ang kanilang kakayahan na magbigay ng tamang diagnosis sa mga pasyente.   Magsisilbi rin itong mahalagang hakbang upang mag-apply ng accreditation training program sa kanilang Department of Pathology. 3,000 Caviteños grateful for support from Cayetanos, DSWD

The offices of Senators Alan Peter and Pia Cayetano maximized their recent visit to Cavite by conducting two days of outreach activities on June 19 and 20, 2024 to provide aid to many residents in need. Once again partnering with the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program, the Cayetano siblings reached out to 3,000 Cavite residents. On June 19, their first stop in Dasmariñas City benefited 500 recipients, including senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs). City Mayor Jennifer “Jenny” Barzaga and the City Council played a key role in the success of this distribution. Later that day, their offices also visited Imus City where 500 community health workers and women received support. This distribution was organized in coordination with Cavite 3rd District Representative Adrian Jay “AJ” Advincula, Mayor Alex “AA” Advincula, and Councilor Mark Villanueva. The outreach in Dasmariñas City continued on June 20, assisting 2,000 more residents. Beneficiaries included Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS), solo parents, women’s groups, and members of the LGBTQ community. These initiatives reflect the Cayetano siblings’ ongoing commitment to supporting marginalized communities across the country. Their teams continue to conduct simultaneous visits in different provinces to bring assistance directly to Filipinos in need. By closely collaborating with government agencies and local units, they ensure efficient and effective delivery of aid to those who require it most.

BayaNiJuan Festival in Tiaong, Quezon to honor small, medium enterprised, Balikbayan and OFW

By Danny Estacio TIAONG, Quezon – Mayor Vincent Arjay Mea said here on Tuesday that one of the highlights of BayaniJuan Festival 2024 is to honor the Overseas Filipino Workers ( OFW) and Balik Bayan and the sector of small and medium enterprises which gave a big contribution in the progress and economic development in this town. The festival started on June 18 until June 24 and lined up a weeklong event in honor of the town’s patron St. John the Baptist. Mea said in the interview that he asked for the support of the Balikbayan and the OFW to put up investments in their communities to help the residents in the upliftment of the economic condition. Mea received an affirmative response from the Balikbayan who came back just to witness the festival. Mea added that he targeted the small medium business enterprises in recognizing their huge contribution to the local government, and they were chosen from 31 barangays with three awardees each. The said business sector is vital in sharing the local taxes the LGU collected to P106 million in recent years from the previous P60 million collections in 2021. Because of the tax collected and contribution from the said sector businesses and investment this town has from ” kuting”(kitten) in the future into a tiger economy in the province of Quezon. Mea added to make the festival more vibrant and exciting several movies, TV, and singers’ personalities were invited to perform at Mayor’s RJM night.

Cayetanos deliver aid to Lumban, Laguna communities

LUMBAN,Laguna -“Kung mayroon pong mga turista, mayroon po kaming pinagtitindahan, pero  kapag wala po, wala rin pong tinda. Kaya napakalaking tulong po nitong tulong nila Senator Alan at Senator Pia Cayetano, dahil magagamit ko ito para sa pang-tuition fee ng aking anak.” These were the heartfelt words of Reysie delos Reyes Cacalda, an espasol vendor from Lumban, Laguna as she expressed gratitude for the assistance from the sibling senators which will significantly contribute to a higher cause—funding her child’s education. “Makakapagpa-graduate na po ako ng aking anak na [may kursong] Civil Engineering,” she added joyfully. Cavalda was one of the 1,000 beneficiaries from the partnership between the senators and the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program. This partnership brought support to the Municipality of Lumban in the Province of Laguna. On June 11, 2024, the senators’ offices reached out to community workers, women, and small business owners in Lumban to provide assistance for their needs. The distribution was organized in coordination with Lumban Vice Mayor Belen Raga, who expressed her gratitude to the senators on behalf of the beneficiaries. “Ako po ay lubos na nagpapasalamat sa tulong na dinala nila sa bayan ng Lumban. Sobrang blessing po ito para sa aming bayan at nawa po ay ibalik ito ng siksik, liglig ni Lord sa inyo,” she said. The activity also featured a Medical Assistance Desk to help individuals with medical expenses, covering hospital bills, medications, laboratory tests, and other diagnostic procedures. These initiatives are part of the Cayetanos’ ongoing efforts to support marginalized communities across the country. While the Senate is on a session break, their offices remain active, visiting various areas to bring aid closer to those in need.
