Suarez said that House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez administered the oath of the local officials as new members of LAKAS-CMD. Among those who joined the party are Sariaya Mayor Marcelo P. Gayeta, Tiaong Mayor Vincent Arjay Mea, San Antonio Mayor Ariel Wagan, Dolores Mayor Orlan Calayag, and local officials of  Lucena City and Candelaria and by  Candelaria vice mayor Macario Boonggaling as guest. Present during the event are Senior Deputy Speaker Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales Jr., Majority Leader Manuel Jose “Mannix” Dalipe, Agusan del Norte 1st District Rep. Jose “Joboy” Aquino II, and  Congresswoman  Anna Villaraza Suarez of Alona Party List.

By Danny Estacio TIAONG Quezon -About 1650 sector of near-poor, they are workers receiving minimum wage are recipients of the Ayuda Para  Sa Kapos Ang Kita Program (AKAP), a new program of the national government, received cash assistance during payout at Tiaong Convention Center and Villa Escudero Plantation and Resort on Thursday, Aug 8, here. The AKAP is in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, House of Representatives under the leadership of House Speaker Martin Romualdez, Deputy Speaker David Suarez, and ALONA Partylist Representative Anna V. Suarez. Deputy House Speaker Suarez supervised the payout conducted by the DSWD regional office. The 1500 are workers from various private business establishments in this town and the 150 are workers of the Villa Escudero Plantation and Resort. The beneficiaries of the private establishment asked permission from their employers to personally claim the cash assistance of P5000, while Suarez personally came to the resort’s workers of Escudero to deliver the aid. Suarez was welcomed by resort owner Rosalie Escudero who expressed thanks to the government’s gesture in helping the near poor to be imparted on the amelioration program of President Bongbong Marcos. The Quezon solon was accompanied by municipal councilors Maja Escueta, Recrec Baldeo, Jonas Atienza, Rex Bautista, Tom Ilao, and SK president Kenneth Obispo. Suarez advised the recipients to spend the money for family needs at least to lessen the burden on family expenditures. Though the near poor have work but receive salaries under minimum wage and because of increasing prices of basic commodities, their income is being affected and insufficient to support the family expenses, Suarez said.

By Danny Estacio CANDELARIA, Quezon – Incumbent Municipal Mayor George Suayan announced here on Wednesday his seeking re-election in 2025. Suayan made his statement during a press conference following his final decision to seek his second term. His challenger is his uncle-in-law’s incumbent Vice Yayor Macario Boonggaling, uncle of Emma, wife of the mayor. The 2025 mayoral election is seen as the battle between Emma’s family. Emma’s family is known as being a rich clan in this town. Emma said though it is a family political battle she is avoiding consequences that will affect the relationship between her husband and her family” Family is family” Emma assured. Suayan is focusing on his next term for cityhood to which he already prepared the necessary prerequisites to turn a town into a city. He also dreams of establishing a state college and constructing a new municipal hall. The old municipal hall will be used by the state college which is run by the local government unit. He started for good governance, and better public and social services directly to the “common tao ” dubbed as “garantisadong serbisyo, diretso sa tao”, to feel the presence of government services. As of this development, this town is one of the nominated for Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) 2024 at the national level, Suayan announced.        

By Danny Estacio TIAONG, Quezon – The intermediate and primary learners from Cabay Elementary School,Tiaong East Elementary School, San Juan Elementary School and Claro M. Recto Memorial Central School with total enrolment of 3,358 were recipients of free school supplies given by Mayor Vincent Arjay Mea distributed to them during the school opening on Monday and Tuesday, July 29 and 30. Mayor Mea  personally handed the school supplies on two days distribution which he imparted and his support to the Department of Education (DepEd). Mea was accompanied by Sangguniang Bayan members led by vice mayor Rhoderick Umali, Barangay officials, Parents – Teachers Association officers and his family. He reminded the students to study hard, prayerful and respect their teachers and classmates. He assured that  he will accomplished as soon as soonest possible time the repair of defective classrooms under “zero backlog” program of the 35 schools from 31 barangays before the end of school year 2024-2025. He also added his request of additional 96 classrooms to meet the backlogs to Department of Education secretary Sonny Angara and he is optimistic the positive response in addressing the shortage. The school supplies is purchased by Mea personal fund.

By Danny Estacio GENERAL LUNA, Quezon – Fisher folks and their families who were affected by typhoon Carina in this town were provided by the local government with family food packs delivered on Friday, July 26. Mayor Matt Erwin Florido handed them to the fishermen of Barangay San Isidro Ibaba, Poblacion 1, 8, Bacong Ibaba, Bacong Ilaya, and Sta. Maria Ibaba all coastal villages in this town as relief assistance of the government after he coordinated with the Department of Social Welfare and Development office. The fishermen were not allowed to go fishing because of bad weather brought by typhoons Carina and Habagat. “Dahil sa masamang panahon, malakas ang dagat at epekto ng bagyong Carina, sa mga nakalipas na araw at hanggang sa kasalukuyan ay hindi pa rin sila nakakalaot sa dagat upang makapangisda”, Florido said. He reminded the fishermen to stay for the meantime at home until the sea condition is back to normal, also he expressed thanks to the DSWD for the support.    

By Danny Estacio QUEZON- Mahigit sa 1,260 mula sa sektor ng edukasyon mula pribadong paaralan ng teaching at non-teaching  mula sa Quezon 4th at 3rd district na ibinilang sa Ayuda Para sa Kapos (AKAP) ang biyayaan mula sa pondo ni Alona Partylist Representative Anna Villaraza- Suarez na isinagawa sa dalawang magkasunod na araw nitong Hulyo 24 at 25.  Sa Quezon 4th district na may 761 guro at empleyado ang tumanggap ng ayuda, noong Hulyo 24, gayung noong Hulyo 25 ay nasa 500 naman mula sa Quezon 3rd district noong Hulyo 25. Tumanggap sila ng tig-P6000, na sa orihinal ng halaga ay P3,000 lamang. “dahil sa mahal ko ang mga guro at kawani ng pribadong paaralan ay dinoble ko ang ayuda.” ayon kay Suarez. Ang payout para sa Quezon 4th district ay ginanap sa gymnasium ng Gumaca Bishop’s palace na sinamahan nina mayor Webster Letargo ng Gumaca, mayor Matt Erwin Florido ng Gen.  Luna , Gumaca councilors Juancho Mercurio at GJ Ylagan. Ang Ayuda para sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP) ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) ay inilunsad upang suportahan ang mga “near poor” na Pilipino na nasa panganib na muling sumadsad sa kahirapan dahil sa mga pang-ekonomiyang pagbabago, kabilang ang mga minimum wage earners at mga sambahayan na nakalabas na sa Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) na nangangailangan ng safety net tulad ng AKAP. Sa buong Quezon ay may mahigit 3,310 mula sa nasabing sektor ang kabilang sa AKAP para sa private school teachers and personnel program na pinaglaanan ng pondo nasa mahigit sa P19 milyon.  Sa Quezon 3rd district naman ay isinagawa nitong Hulyo 25 sa Catanauan Quezon.

Nabatid na nauna ng isinailalim sa State of Calamity ang lalawigan ng Batangas,dahil sa mga pagbaha sa maraming bayan, dulot ng patuloy na pagbuhos ng malakas na ulan at hangin ng bagyong Carina. Ayon sa Agoncillo MDRRMO, ang mga biktima ay miyembro ng pamilya Rimas – isang 28-anyos na anim na buwang buntis at tatlong menor de edad na edad 9, 13, at 15. Agad naman narekober ang mga labi ng biktima, ayon sa MDRRMO. Nagpaabot ng suporta ang MDRRMO, pulisya, Bureau of Fire Protection, Municipal Health Office, at Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office sa pamilya ng mga biktima. Agad ding inilikas ang iba pang pamilya na nakatira malapit sa pinangyarihan ng insidente. Agad din bumisita si Vice Governor Mark Leviste sa mga kaanak ng mga biktima ng landslide kanin ang umaga sa Sitio Manalao, Subic Ilaya, Agoncillo, Batangas. Kasabay ng kanyang taos pusong pakikiramay ay ang tulong pinansyal na iniabot nya sa pamilya Rimas. Kasama ni Vice Governor  Leviste sa pagbisita sa mga iba’t ibang evacuation center si MDRRMO Officer Junfrance De Villa, kinatawan ng MSWDO Shiela Guevarra at iba pang mga opisyales, para siguraduhin na mabigyan ng atensyon at pangangailanganng mga apektado ng bagyo. Iniulat naman ng Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council na apng padeklara ng state of calamity noong Hunyo 23, ay kaugnay sa ilang munisipalidad sa lalawigan ang binaha dahil sa walang tigil na pag-ulan. Binaha ang mga bayan ng Lemery, Agoncillo, at Balayan dahil sa tubig-baha mula sa mga kal apit na bayan. Sa Lemery, maraming sasakyan ang na-stranded dahil tanging mga trak at bus lamang ang maaaring dumaan sa binahang diversion road. By Danny Estacio   LUCENA CITY, Quezon– Umabot sa 2000 kabilang sa tinaguriang near poor sector na mga manggagawa sa restaurants, food chains, beauty salons, funeral parlors, motor shops, media at iba pa na tumatanggap ng hindi sapat na sahod kada buwan ang inisyal na benepisyaryo ng bagong programa ng gobyerno na tinawag na Ayuda para Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP) na inilunsad sa siyudad na ito. Si House Deputy Speaker David C. Suarez ang nangasiwa sa payout na ipinatupad ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) regional office nitong Hulyo 18 at 19 na ginanap sa STI gymnasium. Ang mga benepisyaryo ay pawang mga residente ng siyudad na pumasa sa itinakdang resikitos ng DSWD. Ang bawat isa sa kanila ay tumanggap ng tig-P5,000 na may kabuuang halaga na aabot sa P10 milyon. Ayon kay Suarez nadiskubre nila sa Kongreso ang programa sa panahong ng kanilang deliberasyon ng national budget noong 2023 na may sektor na hindi nabibigyan ng tulong mula sa pamahalaan nasyonal at tanging mga benepisyaryo lamang ng TUPAD  (Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers at Aid to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) ang nabibigyan ng ayuda mula sa national government, na kung tawagin  ay poorest of the poor, sapagkat sila ang nakadisenyo sa programa ng ayuda na mas higit na nangangailangan, ayon kay Suarez. At dahil sa hiyawan ng mga manggagawa na kapos ang kita sa tuwing may pagkakaloob ng ayuda para sa dalawang naturang benepisyo at dito nadiskubre ang bagong sektor na ito na tinawag na AKAP. Ito ang sektor ng near poor, sila ay may trabaho subalit kulang ang kinikita upang ipangtustos sa kanilang pang-araw-araw na gastusin sa  bahay at sa pamilya,ayon pa kay Suarez. Inilunsad sa Lucena City ang AKAP at kasunod nito ay sa mga bayang ikalawang distrito ng Quezon, Sariaya, Candelaria, Tiaong, San Antonio, at Dolores at ipararating din sa maging sa buong lalawigan sa pamamagitan ng Alona Partylist Representative Anna V. Suarez. Naisakatuparan ang programang ito sa paglalaan ng pondo ng Kongreso sa pamamagitan ni House Speaker Martin Romualdez base sa social services program ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos.
