Nueva Vizcaya sets 2025 Agritourism Festival

  Showcases Province as ‘Heart of Farm Tourism in the North’ By Rachel Magday   NUEVA VIZCAYA, Philippines – The provincial government of Nueva Vizcaya led by Gov Atty Jose V Gambito will hold the 2025 Agritourism Festival on December 5–7 at Solano Heroes Park in Solano, through the Provincial Tourism and Culture Office in partnership with the Nueva Vizcaya Farm Tourism Stakeholders Association (NVFTSA). Provincial Tourism Officer Marichelle O. Costales said the festival will showcase agritourism exhibits and learning sessions, fresh farm products and local delicacies, as well as creative booths featuring local entrepreneurs and their “Made in Vizcaya” products. Costales said the festival aims to go beyond a traditional celebration by promoting a deeper appreciation of agriculture and sustainable travel. “The festival is more than just a celebration; it’s a movement that connects people back to the land, honors the farmers and inspires sustainable tourism that nurtures both nature and the community,” she said. “Let us celebrate the beauty of our province and support the growing agritourism movement that makes Nueva Vizcaya truly the heart of farm tourism in the North,” Costales added. Gov. Gambito expressed full support for the activity, saying the festival affirms the province’s commitment to its farmers and countryside development. “This agritourism festival is our tribute to the hands that feed us and the land that sustains us. By opening our farms to visitors, we are creating new opportunities for our communities while showcasing Nueva Vizcaya as a premier destination for sustainable, farm-based tourism in Northern Luzon,” Gambito said.

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines – Abe Rosal shot a tournament best three under 66 for 39 points and lead Luisita Golf and Country Club to 132 and take a 19 point lead in the premiere Fil Championship Senior of the 75th Januarius Fil-Am Invitational Golf Tournament Saturday. Rosal had eight birdies but was hobbled with five bogeys as he set the best score so far in the diamond year of the Fil-Am golf. Team mate Ferdie Barbosa, Benjamin Sumolong and Ronald Littau added 32, 31 and 30 points ofr the Tarlac based team.Riviera had 113 points on the 33 of Kyung Young Jing, the 30 of Chan Yeong Gim and the 25 and 24 of Ermin Mendiola and Cipriano Abdon. They lead Valley Golf by three with Ricky Libago topscoring for the team with 30. Sonny Fontilla had 30 points and Green Meadows tallied 104 points to take 21 point advantage in the Am Championship Seniors. Tommy Manotoc and Roland Punzalan made 25 points a piece while Douglas Puckett added 24 for the local Fil-Baguio squad. Mamala Bay is running third with 83 just a point off Srixon IMG Team 2, which is one up o Summit Point Golf. Baguio Country Club Team 1 held off a charging John Hay Golf as they head to the former’s home turf where the co-hosts are expected to go all out for the top podium in Fil Seniors A. Mars Garcia showed the way for the co-hosts charge to the top with a team high 29 points at the longer CJH course, even as Pol Mayosadded 28, while Goody Ignacio and Ed Montenegro chipped 23 and 20 points, respectively, for the team’s 100 and 198 total as their lead whittled to a single marker Co-host John Hay had a sizzling day two as former Police Regional Office – Cordillera chief Vaillamor Bumanglag had a flight best 31, even as Bayani Tecson added 30, while Dai Tsuchiya and Lyndon Julian added 28 and 24, respectively for a league best 113 for a two-day sum of 197 and improve from fifth to second. Matching their performance are the Golden Razcals with local contractor Bernard Capuyan and Apayao Gov. Elias Bulut, Jr. leading the charge with 26 each. Hand Holden Mangaoang and Robert Basco added 23 a piece for the team’s 98 and 179 total. Fifteen points down is Team City of Vallejo 1 which h assembled 88 and 164 total to maintain third spot. Reinier Liboa and Eduardo Gongona shot a pair of 20s to power Sandigan 82 Team 2 75 and a two day total of 145 to maintain a three-point advantage in Am C. IGC Travellers improved to 76 to reduce the fight leaders lead to three from four for a 142 tally. Eight shots down is Bughaw Golfers which incurred a two-point penalty for 58 and 134 total. The more than 700 players seeing this week will have the welcome party tomorrow at the John Hay golf club. Meanwhile, two brand-new Mazda MX-5 cars will be raffled off to participants this year. Hole in one prizes include a Toyota Raize and Mazda CX-30 HEV. Other hole in one prizes are: Get Go 2-seater golf cart, PhP200,000 worth of K&G apparel and a luxury Vietnam four days and three nights vacation with two golf rounds. BCDA secures Php5.1B Korean investment for landmark golf estate in New Clark City

BCDA photo   NEW CLARK CITY, Philippines — The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) locked in a Php5.1-billion deal with one of South Korea’s leading real estate investment management firms, Korea Real Estate Investment & Trust (KOREIT) Asset Management, and Sky Blue New Clark City Golf & Resort Corp. for a premium golf course and residential villa estate in New Clark City—a development set to create 1,200 direct and indirect jobs and boost the Philippines’ sports and tourism infrastructure. KOREIT, through its Philippine subsidiaries Eagle-K GC Corp. and Eagle-K RV Corp., will enable its subsidiaries to fully develop and manage the 150-hectare estate. The project covers about 77 hectares for an 18-hole championship golf course and clubhouse, and 52 hectares for a 9-hole extension, along with supporting facilities. The remaining areas will host residential villas and related amenities. Commercial operations of the golf course are targeted to begin by the first quarter of 2026. BCDA President and CEO Engr. Joshua M. Bingcang said the partnership reflects growing interest from international institutional investors in New Clark City’s long-term development plan. “KOREIT’s entry shows the level of confidence that major global investors place in New Clark City. This strengthens our investment pipeline and supports our goal of building competitive, sustainable growth centers,” Engr. Bingcang said. The Php5.1-billion investment is expected to generate significant economic activity in Tarlac and nearby areas, supporting tourism, local businesses, and employment. The development is also projected to attract both domestic and international visitors, positioning New Clark City as a rising sports and lifestyle destination. “This project goes beyond building new facilities. It creates jobs, opens opportunities for local communities, and supports regional growth. It is another step in making New Clark City a world-class, sustainable district,” Engr. Bingcang added. The project adds to New Clark City’s expanding portfolio of public and private investments in sports, tourism, and real estate.        

La Union to light ‘Naragsak a Paskua’ Village on Dec 1

The Province of La Union is ready to usher in the happiest season of the year with the opening of the Christmas village on December 1, 2025 at the Speaker Pro Tempore Francisco Ortega Convention Center Complex, Brgy. Sevilla, City of San Fernando, La Union. This year’s celebration highlights the theme “Naragsak a Paskua,” Iloko for ‘merry Christmas. Among the main attraction of the Christmas village is the 17-meter giant Christmas tree positioned at the rotunda of the complex and adorned with almost 900 parols, proudly made by Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) from the La Union Provincial Jail. Gov. Mario Eduardo C. Ortega invites the public to visit the Christmas village. “I’m sure everyone will have a wonderful time during your visit. We want people to feel the Christmas spirit even without spending a lot, and to experience genuine happiness,” he said. The village features carnival rides, inflatable playground, Christmas bazaars showcasing the towns’ unique products, and food bazaars offering a variety of local dishes. The convention center was also wrapped and illuminated with spectacular lighting display. “We brought the Christmas Village to this new location to avoid traffic in the town center. This area is more spacious and can accommodate more visitors,” the Governor said. Big gift installations, colorful decorations, twinkling lights display, and parols filled the place to bring merriment and festive spirit to Elyucanos. The activity is seen to boost economic activities by attracting more crowd and supporting the local vendors and businesses. Beyond the dazzling decors, the christmas atmosphere glowing across the village celebrates the unity and collaboration of various offices that defines the local government’s call for #LaUnionAgkaysa.

Two-way tie in Fil-D Seniors; Benlife opens 10-point lead in Fil-C Seniors

BAGUIO CITY (Nov. 28, 2025) — A tight race unfolded on opening day of the 75th Januarius Fil-Am Invitational Golf Tournament, with a two-way tie emerging in Fil-D Seniors and Benlife Seniors 1 seizing a commanding 10-point lead in Fil-C Seniors at the Camp John Hay and Baguio Country Club courses. A1/MGC and Abetamu both tallied 91 points to share the early lead in Fil-D Seniors. A1/MGC drew solid performances from Gabriel Javelosa with 26 points, Ramon Ocampo with 23, Edward Isidro with 22, and Arsenio Madriaga with 20. Abetamu countered with a 29-point output from Romeo Dungca, a 27 from Rhodel Tivera, and contributions of 19 and 16 from Ariel Araja and Vergel Vicencio, respectively. Meanwhile, Joselito Tan fired 27 points to lead BCC TOO to an opening total of 87—good for a 17-point advantage also in Fil-D Seniors. Tan, a local contractor, carded two birdies but also endured two pickups at the longer John Hay layout. Teammates Bong Banagaoet and Edgar Dirige chipped in with identical 21s, while Mon Aldana added 18. In Fil-C Seniors, Clifford Lichaytoc delivered the day’s biggest spark with a 30-point haul, powering Benlife Seniors 1 to a strong start and a 10-shot cushion. Supporting him were George Goduco and Gerardo Rivera with matching 22s, and Jaime Fernandez with 16. Godofredo Laurente scored 28 points to anchor Fil-Am Golf of Florida 1 to 80 points, placing them in second. Team City of Vallejo followed in third with 76 points, led by Abraham Rojas who also posted 28. Ayon kay Marlene Miralles ng Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer ng Sta Praxedes, nasa maayos ng kalagayan ang isang natabunan habang ang isa ay nasa kritikal na kondisyon. Aniya, nasa lugar ang dalawang hindi na pinalanganan, kasama ang isa pang kawani para magbantay sa trapiko at magmonitor sa lugar dahil sa nararanasang pag-uulan. Dahil sa bilis ng pangyayari, hindi napansin ng dalawa ang pagguho ng lupa sa kanilang kinaroroonan. Agad namang tumawag ng rescuers ang isa nilang kasama na nirespondehan ng mga kawani ng MDRRMO Sta Praxedes. Tacloban City receives Bronze Seal of Protection for 2025

  TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines — Tacloban City was recognized for its commitment to safeguarding public assets after being awarded the Bronze Seal of Protection 2025 during the Seal of Protection Awards held on November 20 in Iloilo City. Councilor Chris Esperas accepted the award on behalf of the city government. The recognition reinforces Tacloban’s ongoing initiatives to strengthen resilience and maintain the protection of public assets critical to delivering services to its constituents. The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) conferred the award to honor local government units that demonstrate strong disaster preparedness and adherence to the Property Insurance Law, ensuring that government-owned properties are adequately insured and protected from risks.
