BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — No incidents of theft or robbery were recorded in Baguio City during the first 16 days of August 2026, as the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) strengthens its Four-Pillar Strategic Framework for Crime Prevention.
The latest figures also show a 40 percent decrease in total crime incidents, or 10 fewer cases, compared with the same period in July. Theft and robbery combined likewise registered a 100 percent decrease, equivalent to a reduction of eight cases.
Under Law Enforcement Operations, the first pillar, BCPO focuses on deploying police resources where they are most needed, strengthening deterrence, and taking action against individuals and activities linked to property crimes.
The second, Crime Prevention Programs on Target Hardening and Technology, works to reduce opportunities for theft and robbery by strengthening physical security, surveillance, access control, and the use of technology.
Third, Community and Stakeholder Partnerships strengthen the shared responsibility for crime prevention by collaborating with the barangays, business sectors, and security stakeholders through integrated intelligence sharing and cross-sector security partnership.
Lastly, Root-Cause Interventions and Offender Management seeks to prevent repeat offending by identifying individuals who may need intervention, including possible referral to the “Panag-aywan Iti Kailyan (PIK) 2.0 Program” for skills development and livelihood opportunities, while those who continue to violate the law remain subject to legal action.
The zero recorded theft and robbery incidents is an encouraging development, but not the finish line. With sustained police efforts and the continued cooperation and vigilance of the community and its partners, the gains can be sustained and crimes can be prevented, making Baguio an even safer place to live, work, study and do business.
