By Danny  Estacio   TAYABAS CITY,  Quezon — More than 4,200 pairs of croc slippers donated by private individuals and the city  government of were  given to students from three elementary schools here on September 13. The slippers were handed to Grade 1 to Grade 6 students of Tayabas West Central School-I, Tayabas East Central School and Gibanga East Elementary School led by Mayor Lovely Reynoso-Pontioso, and private business owners including Emily and Edwin Abadilla ; Hotei Construction Supply and Sun Moon Star Hardware and Merian Reyes, owner of Star Horse Shipping Lines. Pontioso told the parents and teachers who attended the event that her administration focuses on the well-being of the students, especially those in far-flung villages. She said part of her goals for the young learners is to provide schools with strong Wi-Fi connection for their school requirements. “Our young students should not be deprived of the convenience of technology. They are the ones who will push our city to greater advancement and they need all the assistance from the city government,” said Pontioso. She said the slippers they wear could be the “jumpstart of confidence” to motivate them to reach for their dreams, much like the way they scrambled searching for the size of their crocs. The lady mayor also thanked the private and business members of the community who shared their resources.          

BY Danny Estacio GENERAL LUNA, Quezon-  Mayor Matt Erwin Florido led the memorable rites along with the members of municipal council and village officials,during  the groundbreaking of a P 13  million water supply system at Barangay Poblacion,Genearal Luna, Quezon, on  September 12. “Hindi po tayo tumitigil upang ang pangarap ng marami nating kababayan na magkaroon ng maayos na daloy ng tubig sa Poblacion Area at San Jose ay magkaroon ng katuparan”. Florido said. The improvement water system aims to supply water service for 24 hours. The fund allocated by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) through Florido’s initiative, in response to the clamour of the residents. ” Lubhang kay palad ng Bayang May Puso dahil tuloy tuloy ang mga biyayang proyekto sa ating minamahal na bayan,”, Florido added.

By Danny Estacio   TAYABAS CITY, Quezon -Senator Ronald “Bato” de la  Rosa allocated fund to qualified beneficiaries under Livelihood Assistance for Displaced/Disadvantaged (TUPAD) workers from different barangays following  an orientation and contract signing on Thursday, September 12, 2024, this city. City mayor Lovely Reynoso- Pontioso said that the orientation and contract signing of the ten (100) new batch of TUPAD beneficiaries who will work for 10 days and will receive a salary of P5,200 for community service. The lady mayor personally met the beneficiaries and expressed thank to Senator De La Rosa for allocating the fund and she was with councilor Elsa Rubio Public Employment Service Office (PESO) manager-designate Malou Dichoso Montoya, with partner local Department of Labor and Employment -TUPAD coordinator Mark Busar and John Mark R. De Dos facilitated the orientation and contract signing.                            

Camp BGen Vicente P Lim – Personnel of Biñan Component City Police Station arrested the Rank Number 5 Regional Most Wanted Person charged with multiple crimes of murder, illegal drugs and robbery during a police operation against Most Wanted Persons in Barangay San Antonio, Biñan City, Laguna, on September 6. The arrested fugitive was identified as alias Martin, 32, of Barangay San Antonio Biñan City who was arrested by virtue of Warrants of Arrest for the crime of Murder, issued by the Regional Trial Court, Branch 152, Biñan City, on August 17, 2022, with no bail recommended; 2 counts of robbery, issued by the Regional Trial Court, Branch 24, Biñan City, on September 4, 2023, with a recommended bail of P100,000.00; and Violation of Section 11, Article II of RA 9165 (Illegal Possession of Dangerous Drugs), issued by the Regional Trial Court, Branch 155, Biñan City, on May 17, 2023, with a recommended bail of P200,000.00. The operation was recorded thru Body Worn Camera to ensure the legality of the arrest. Regional Director, PBGen Paul Kenneth T Lucas praised the team’s efforts on the arrest of said fugitive. “Ito ay isang malaking tagumpay na bunga ng walang sawang pagtutulungan ng ating mga kapulisan, iba’t ibang ahensya ng gobyerno, at ng ating komunidad sa paghahanap sa mga nagtatagong pugante. City Mayor Lovely Reynoso- Pontioso said that many awards have been recieved that prove the city health office of being highly significant and impactful. The inter-primary care provider network are came from South Cotabato, Bataan and Baguio City led by Atty. Mauro Anthony Cabading, Dr. Francis Sarmiento, III. , Dr. Edwin M. Orina, of Philhealth  region 4A, and personnel of the Integrated Provincial Health Office of Quezon that conducted the said benchmarking activity on Tuesday September 3. Mayor Pontioso is with City Health Officer Hernando Marquez, Program head Joanne Durante-Hachaso and OIC-Tourism Officer Koko Pataunia welcomed the bench markers.          

By TMPadilla, Albay PIO   Legazpi City–  The Albay Veterinary Office (AVO) conducted a one-day training session for farmers on Balut and Salted Egg Production. Aimed at enhancing economic opportunities and promoting sustainable agricultural practices in the region, AVO organized this training as part of the province’s ongoing efforts to boost animal raising and production ventures. Thirty farmers from across the province completed the comprehensive training program, which was designed to improve their knowledge and skills in duck egg processing and management, offering innovative approaches to enhance their livelihoods. Edgar Persebre, an agripreneur and owner-administrator of Palayamanayon ni Tiyo Edgar, led an in-depth session covering topics such as proper duck raising, egg selection and incubation, brine and solution preparation, candling, and harvesting and cooking. The participants also engaged in a hands-on demonstration of balut and salted egg production, allowing them to apply their newly acquired skills.

By Danny Estacio LUCENA CITY – Commission on Election (COMELEC) chairman George Erwin Garcia guided the residents here to cast their votes in a demonstration for the new Automated Voting Machine, held at the Event Center of SM City Lucena on Saturday, Aug. 17. Garcia led the COMELEC team during the event, elaborating on the features of the machine to be used for 2025 mid-term elections. He said the new machine will make voting more convenient and hassle-free for all voters with its modern features including a smooth receptacle for the ballot, wide touch screen monitor for easy review of the votes cast, fool-proof receptacle for the receipt after the voter confirmed his votes. In the past elections, the ballot receipt is just placed in a yellow box beside the old vote counting machine. “We immediately addressed the voters’ doubt whether their vote is counted, because we received complains in the past airing they are not sure if their vote is counted because their receipt is just placed in the yellow box,” Garcia told the audience. Garcia also updated the audience about the innovations at Comelec to be implemented in the 2025 elections, which include: privilege for the senior citizens, persons with disability (PWD) and pregnant women to cast their votes starting at 5 A.M. until 7 p.m. Garcia announced the  COMELEC is in preparation for nnline voting via Internet for Filipinos abroad, meaning they don’t have to go to Philippine embassies in their respective countries; and  mall voting at for the barangays in the immediate vicinities of the concerned mall. The talked between COMELEC and malls administrators in the various parts of tge country are in the process come up with an agreement. Garcia also encouraged the deactivated voters to renew their registration to practice their electoral rights. “Our records show that 5.2 million Fillipinos were deactivated because they failed to vote during the 2022 elections and the Barangay and SK elections last year,” Garcia added. He also appealed to young voters to participate in the 2025 elections to make their voices heard. He added the youth comprises 25 million voters. They have yet to reach their agency’s target 60 to 70 million voters for the next election. Presently, they only recorded 52 million registered voters and Garcia assured there won’t be an extension for registration, set until September 30. The event, first in Quezon, is attended by elections officers of almost all the 41 towns and cities of the province, public administration students, senior citizens and PWD sectoral members. Suarez said that House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez administered the oath of the local officials as new members of LAKAS-CMD. Among those who joined the party are Sariaya Mayor Marcelo P. Gayeta, Tiaong Mayor Vincent Arjay Mea, San Antonio Mayor Ariel Wagan, Dolores Mayor Orlan Calayag, and local officials of  Lucena City and Candelaria and by  Candelaria vice mayor Macario Boonggaling as guest. Present during the event are Senior Deputy Speaker Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales Jr., Majority Leader Manuel Jose “Mannix” Dalipe, Agusan del Norte 1st District Rep. Jose “Joboy” Aquino II, and  Congresswoman  Anna Villaraza Suarez of Alona Party List.
