Camp Col Romeo A Abendan, Zamboanga City, Philippines –Police Regional Office (PRO) 9, under the leadership of Police Brigadier General Elmer E Ragay, Regional Director, continues to strengthen its institutional capability, personnel welfare, and operational readiness through the improvement of its facilities.

On October 3, 2026, PRO 9 spearheaded the Inauguration and Blessing of the Newly Renovated Camp Batalla Sto. Niño Chapel at Camp BGen Eduardo E. Batalla, Roseller T Lim Boulevard, Cawa-Cawa, Zamboanga City.

Meanwhile, on October 5, 2026, PRO 9 formally inaugurated and blessed the Newly Renovated Regional Chaplain Service 9 St. Michael Pastoral Hall and the Newly Constructed Firearms Repository Building at Camp Col Romeo A Abendan, Mercedes, Zamboanga City, further enhancing the organization’s spiritual, administrative, and operational support facilities.

The ceremony was graced by Police Major General Angelito A Casimiro (Ret.), Guest of Honor and Speaker, together with PRO 9 personnel, chaplains, stakeholders, and members of the community.

In his message, PMGen Casimiro emphasized the importance of looking beyond the challenges of the present and working toward a better tomorrow. He called for a better PNP that ensures every community feels safe, regardless of race or background, stressing that the PNP cannot achieve lasting peace and security alone but must work hand in hand with the community. He also underscored the importance of science and technology in modern policing.

PRO 9 continues to pursue initiatives that go beyond operational accomplishments, recognizing that a capable police organization must also be anchored on faith, discipline, professionalism, accountability, and genuine concern for its personnel and the communities it serves and contributes to a safer and more peaceful Zamboanga Peninsula.
