75th Fil-Am Media Center Januarius hauls most trophies in 75th Fil-Am tourney

BAGUIO CITY, Philipiines — While Eastridge Primehomes ruled the premier divisions of the 75th Januarius Fil-Am Invitational Golf Tournament, it was title sponsor Januarius that emerged as the most decorated team as the two-week event concluded last Saturday at the Baguio Country Club and Camp John Hay golf courses. Battling intermittent rains that disrupted schedules and shortened several rounds, Januarius fielded five teams—one in the Seniors division and four in the regular flights—and came away with four trophies, an impressive 80 percent podium rate. Januarius Golf Team 1 finished runner-up to Eastridge Primehomes 1 in the prestigious Fil Championship but made up for it by capturing titles in Fil-A and Am-A, underscoring the depth of the squad. In Fil-A, Januarius erased a one-point deficit after two rounds and delivered a flight-best 115 at Baguio Country Club on the final day to post a 359 total, winning by 19 points. The third round was cancelled due to heavy afternoon rains. Januarius also dominated Am-A, opening with a three-point lead and steadily pulling away before closing with a flight-best 128, highlighted by a one-under 37 from Marco Olives, for a 316 aggregate and a commanding 16-point victory in the rain-shortened competition. The lone setback came in Seniors Fil-B, where Januarius surrendered a five-point overnight lead and bowed to Macquarrie Links Sydney 1, 298–305, after being outscored 62–74 in the final round. Meanwhile, Eastridge Primehomes enjoyed a flawless podium run, finishing three-for-three across divisions. Primehomes 1 dominated the Fil Championship, while Primehomes 2 claimed the Am Championship after holding off a late rally by sister team EGC–Primehomes, winning by just two points. Green Water Golfers settled for second in the Am Championship Seniors after being edged by Mamala Bay but successfully defended the Fil-C crown. Other multiple podium finishers included Team Surigao, with Kyro 1 winning Fil-D, Bebang placing third in Am-C, and Kyro 2 finishing runner-up in Am-F. Moto captured the Seniors Am-A title and added two third-place finishes in Fil-B and Fil-E. Gov. Ebdane sends off 700 security personnel for deployment to 33rd APRSJ

Veloria    IBA, Zambales, Philippines – Zambales Governor Hermogenes Ebdane, Jr. led the send-off ceremony for more than 700 security personnel to be detailed at the camp site of the 33rd Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Jamboree starting on Monday (Dec. 14) in Botolan of this province.   During the send-off ceremony held at the Grand Arena Camp of the Jamboree camp site in Barangay San Juan, designated Camp Chief Gov. Ebdane addressed the 300 uniformed personnel, part of the 700-man composite team with contingents from Philippine Coast Guard, PNP-SWAT, Provincial Police Office, Philippine Army, the Bureau of Fire, and PNP Medical Team. In his speech, Gov. Ebdane emphasized on maintaining organizational discipline and adherence to rules. “The safety of the more than participants, plus the accompanying parents and teachers from all over the Asia Pacific Region, and other support individuals, lies with us,” he said. Ebdane urged every personnel not to leave their post until properly relieved, and secure the properties within their area, “It’s a bit of sacrifice on your part, but we have to follow orders and comply with all or best to secure the Camp site,” he continued. Having the theme “Be Prepared: Scouts for Peace and Sustainable Development,” the Jamboree will run from December 14 to 21, at the 62-hectare flat land to accommodate more than 25,000 participating scouts. The Camp Site itself is complimented with roads with signage, huge mess hall, clinic and emergency post with ambulance, security post which monitors CCTV networks, and a Grand Arena Camp where cultural and tourism activities are to be held. The camp site is divided into six smaller sub-camps, with each sub-camp is complemented with comfort rooms, bath-wash and laundry area, water and electricity supplies, and spacious ground. Meanwhile, BSP Acting Secretary General, and Camp Dir. Atty. Cedrick Train expressed his “super thanks” for Gov.  Ebdane, and the Provincial Engineering Office (headed by Engr. Domingo Mariano), for the best camp site he ever seen in the Philippines. For his part, Mayor Ebdane said that many local residents and visiting entrepreneurs will have the opportunities to sell local products, delicacies, and fruits, while drivers of tricycle (the primary means of public transportation in San Juan) will have increased income. “It’s time to show Filipino hospitality, Filipino tastes and culture, and most importantly to show why Zambales is fast becoming tourist stay-cation destination in Central Luzon,” the mayor said. Other official who graced the send-off ceremony were BSP National President and Dep. Camp Chief Atty. Emilio Aquino, DepEd Div. Supt. and Dep. Camp Chief for Program William Roderick Fallorin; BSP Coordinator for DepEd Zambales, and Vice Chair-RIII Council George Acupan, Police Regional Dir. P/BGen. Ponce Rogelio Peñones Jr., and Zambales Police Dir. P/Col. Benjamin Ariola. Eastridge–Primehomes sweep championships; Green Water Golfers capture Fil-C crown

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Eastridge–Primehomes completed a dominant showing in the Regular Division as it swept the championships of the 75th Fil-Am Invitational Golf Tournament, while Green Water Golfers held their nerve to secure the Fil-C title at the Baguio Country Club on Saturday. Edison Tabalin once again turned Baguio Country Club into his personal playground, firing a one-over 35 points to lead Eastridge–Primehomes Team 1 to a 124-point closing round and a commanding 532-point total, good for a 32-point victory and a second straight Fil-Championship crown. Tabalin topped the scorecard for the second consecutive day for the defending champions, with Ronel Taga-an adding 33 points, while Bobe Salahog and Miko Granada chipped in 29 and 27, respectively. Januarius Golf Team settled for second with a 113-point final round and 500 total, led by Coby Rolida’s 31, while Terence Macatangay and Chuckie Hong posted matching 30s. Batangas Barakos–Supremo claimed third place with a 470 total after closing with 105 points. In the other Fil-Championship flight, Eastridge–Primehomes Team 2 edged sister team EGC–Primehomes by just two points, finishing with a 129-point final round for a 350 aggregate. Ralph Ryan Batican and Patrick Gene Tambalque led the champions with 33 points each, while Vito Sarines and Gary Sales added 32 and 31, respectively. EGC–Primehomes mounted a strong challenge with a flight-best 141, highlighted by a three-under 39 from AJ Wacan and a one-under 37 from Zianbeau Thrs Edoc, but settled for second with 348. Team M placed third with 310 after a 120-point finish. Fil-C drama: Green Water Golfers redeem themselves Denied the Amateur Championship Seniors title last week, Douglas Puckett and Suny Fontilea found redemption by teaming up with Eric Espadero and John Paul Puckett to capture the Fil-C crown. Green Water Golfers closed with a 67-point round for a 247 total, enough to hold off the field. Fontilea led the charge with 23 points, Douglas Puckett added 19, while John Paul Puckett and Espadero contributed 11 each. Puckett said weather disruptions played a role in the tournament’s drama, as the third round was cancelled after several flights failed to complete play due to rain. “We were already finished, but many of the players in our flight were not,” Puckett said. Fontilea said the victory was particularly meaningful after last week’s disappointment. “It’s a different feeling winning here, especially at Baguio Country Club,” Fontilea said. “Losing the Seniors title was disappointing, so we really didn’t want this one to slip away.” That disappointment fueled Green Water Golfers, who responded with an even stronger final round to seal the title. Last week, Puckett’s team with Tommy Manotoc faltered on the final day and lost the Seniors crown to Mamala Bay. Fil-Am League of Golfers Chicago 1 carded a 65 to finish second with 240, while Liloan – Let’s Golf Pare also shot 65 to take third with 235. In Am-C, Gerco Builders emerged champions with a 216 total, closing with an 89-point round. Jay Bitao led with 26, followed by Aldrin Edar with 25, while Butch Lacson and Gabriel Bautista added 23 and 15, respectively. Abandoned CTG camp discovered in Kalinga

PINUKPUK, Kalinga, Philippines  – Joint police and Philippine Army personnel uncovered various types of isg powered firearms and equipment at an abandoned Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) camp in the mountainous area of ​​Sitio Sagideng, Barangay Taga, Pinukpuk, Kalinga, on December 11. The recovered weapons included one MK2 Fragmentation Hand Grenade, one 40mm High Explosive (HE) cartridge, two Rifle Grenades (HE), and thirty pieces of rusted 5.56mm ammunition. Equipment also found at the site were two buckets of rice, various medicines and medical supplies, two cellphone chargers, one red and one black electrical cord, one rope, and two USB drives. According to PLt. Jhonny Boy Binwang, of the 1503rd Maneuver Company, RMFB 15 of the Police Regional Office-Cordillera, said the discovery of the NPA encampment was based on valuable information provided by a recently surrendered CTG member. The meticulous operation was conducted with the assistance of Pinukpuk MPS personnel, Philippine Army personnel led by 1Lt Bienvinenido Guerrero and other law enforcers and quickly located the abandoned rebel camp. RMFB15 trained Philippine Air Force on CDM

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — In a proactive move to bolster inter-agency coordination and public safety preparedness, personnel of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15 (RMFB15) conducted a comprehensive Civil Disturbance Management (CDM) Operations Seminar for personnel of the Philippine Air Force’s Tactical Operations Group 1 (TOG1). The training was held on December 8, 2025, at Loakan Airport, Baguio City. The seminar, held under the supervision of PLtCol Joey Jonathan Bagayao, Force Commander of RMFB15, was designed to equip military personnel with essential skills for managing potential civil unrest with professionalism and restraint. “The primary goal of this training is the preservation of life, property, and public order,” stated Bagayao. “In any civil disturbance scenario, a measured, lawful, and strategic response is paramount. This seminar ensures our personnel are not only prepared to restore order but are firmly grounded in the protocols that protect the rights of all individuals involved.” The activity emphasized that proper CDM training is vital for reducing risks, limiting damage to property, and, most importantly, preventing loss of life during periods of civil unrest. By educating personnel on these standardized procedures, the training enhances the capability of both the PNP and the PAF to protect communities while upholding the highest standards of public service.        

PDEA cautions public against Peyote Cactus

Contains Mescaline, a Hallucinogenic Substance   MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) is warning the public about the proliferation of “Peyote” (Lophophora williamsii), a spineless cactus that contains “Mescaline”, a dangerous hallucinogenic substance. PDEA Director General Undersecretary Isagani R Nerez issued the advisory following reports that Peyote cacti are commercially available on local online shopping platforms. “Mescaline” is classified as a dangerous drug under Republic Act 9165, or “The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002”, and is listed as a controlled substance under the 1971 United Nations Single Convention on Psychotropic Substances. “Mescaline” produces powerful hallucinogenic effects that can severely impair judgment and perception. Users may experience intense nausea, vomiting, dilation of pupils, headaches, muscle weakness and loss of motor coordination. It can be taken mainly by oral ingestion of fresh or dried cacti. It may also be grounded into powder then placed in gelatin capsules, or smoked with cannabis or tobacco. “When abused, “Mescaline” can cause varying degrees of illusions, hallucinations, distorted sense of body, and altered perception of space and time — effects that can lead to accidents, self-harm and unpredictable behavior”, Undersecretary Nerez explained. Historically, the “Peyote” cactus has been used for centuries in indigenous practices by Native Americans and Mexicans. “The public must understand that “Peyote” is not an ornamental plant but a source of dangerous drug. Being sold online either as smuggled contraband or cultivated locally, these cacti are deliberately pushed into online markets to evade detection. We urge the public to immediately report any sightings or suspected sale of this deadly plant in their localities”, DG Nerez said. “Our foremost objective is to protect the Filipino people from substances that threaten their health, safety and future. “Peyote” containing “Mescaline” poses real danger. We will not allow it to take root in our communities”, the PDEA Chief added.

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines (12 Dec) – Heavy late-afternoon rains disrupted play for Eastridge–Primehomes 1 and 2 and other championship flights Friday in the 75th Januarius Fil-Am Invitational Golf Tournament, forcing tournament officials to suspend action as downpour pelted both courses. Eastridge 1 nearly saw its anchor man Edison Tabalin unable to complete his round after rain halted play at Hole No. 9. Tabalin eventually resumed and finished with a two-over 34 to lead the squad. Bobe Salahog added 28, while Ronel Taga-an and Miko Granada each carded 27 for a 116 total, giving the team a three-day aggregate of 340. The move to the shorter but trickier Baguio Country Club layout proved a reality check for Eastridge after a strong showing at the longer John Hay course, where Taga-an, Granada and Salahog erupted for 40, 39, and 37 points, respectively. Play was finally halted at 4:15 PM, when rains grew too heavy to continue. Before the stoppage, three Januarius players managed to hole out. Terence Macatangay posted 31, while Jet Mathay added 29 for an 89 total and a 359 aggregate, slicing the leader’s advantage to 15. IMG/SPES stayed within striking distance as Coby Rolida fired 29 to help the squad turn in the flight-best 117 for a 387 total—21 points off the lead with one round left. Batangas Barakos had Charles Serdena and Henry Bolaño submit 28 and 25, respectively. Sean Granada and Eric Escalona shot matching 28s for a 109 and 365 total to retain third place, eight behind IMG/SPES. Fil and Am B Team Master continued its dominant march in Fil-B, while Alpha Phi Omega–Omega pulled off a surprise finish to snatch the Am-B title. Roy Abalos closed with 27 to lead Team Master to 94 and a 432 total, securing a commanding 32-point victory. Rolando delos Santos (24), Victor Antigua (23), and Rolly Duran (20) completed the team’s four-day run of flight-best scores. Team Master opened with 119, followed by 120, then 99 to build an insurmountable advantage entering the final day. Srixon IMG turned in the second-best final-round score of 93, thanks to Yancy Siladan’s flight-best 31, to finish with 400. Moto placed third with 387 after an 84. Alpha Phi Omega GC – Omega closed with 88 for 344, edging three-day leader Eddmari/MCG, which faltered with an 81 for 341. Master Golfers salvaged third place by carding a flight-best 103 for a 337 total—nosing out Chelus 2 by a single point. Fil F and Am F Michael Atolba’s 24-point performance powered Baguio City to a 294 total and a 28-point triumph in Fil F. Joel Angday scored 19, while Ramon Balay-odao and Vincent Balaodan chipped in 14 each. Two-day leader Jaco Farm faded at the demanding BCC course, turning in only 53 for a 266 total. Former Baguio police chief Manny Obrera shot 20 to pace the team, barely holding off City of Pines, which ended at 263 after Brenner Bengwayan led with a 64-point effort. In Am F, Fil-Golfers Honolulu 2 capped its wire-to-wire dominance with 72 for a 265 aggregate, winning by 26 points. Lito Fuentes top-scored with 26, followed by Jhun Liwanag and Francis Calanio with 16 each, and Ferdie delos Santos with 14.
