Magalong pushes creation of more green spaces in Baguio

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Mayor Benjamin Magalong is calling for greater efforts to protect the environment for future generations during the official opening to the public of the Baguio Arboretum Park, a new green space aimed at preserving the Summer Capital’s natural heritage and promoting biodiversity.

The opening brought together project stakeholders and other city representatives in a move to expand green spaces and encourage residents to appreciate Baguio’s rich natural resources.

The mayor said the park would provide the community with an opportunity to experience the beauty of nature while highlighting the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable management of the city’s natural heritage.

He stressed the need to protect Baguio’s biodiversity, including its diverse species of trees, plants, birds and other forms of wildlife, to help preserve its ecological richness.

Through projects such as the arboretum, the city hopes to safeguard its natural environment and ensure that future generations can continue to benefit from its ecological resources, the mayor said.

He also thanked the individuals and groups who contributed to the development of the park, urging residents and stakeholders to work together to create and maintain more green spaces across the city.
