BORONGAN City, Eastern Samar, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development has officially handed P300,000 worth of financial assistance divided among five livelihood organizations in Borongan City yesterday, August 25, as part of the national agency’s PAMANA (Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan) program.

Spearheaded by the DSWD Regional Office 8 in coordination with the City Social Welfare and Development Office and the Philippine Army, the turnover aims to support the Pinanag-an Farmers’ Pamana Association, Brgy. Benowangan Women’s Association, Sitio Bagong Barrio Copra Buyers’ Association, and Pinanag-an Women’s Association.

In his message, Mayor Agda reminded the beneficiary groups to ensure that the support rendered to them will go to the intended purpose of bolstering their livelihood initiatives. He also stressed the need for accountability and sustainability, securing long-term impacts of the DSWD’s program.

The DSWD’s PAMANA Program was established to support communities with a history of insurgency, providing them with avenues to obtain sustainable livelihood means to maintain stable peace and order.
