SP addresses water service issues in La Union

LA UNION, Philippines — The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of La Union is addressing the concerns of the constituents over a reported water service interruption that affected consumers and businesses in parts of San Juan, Bauang, and the City of San Fernando.

Chairperson on Public Works and Utilities Ex-Officio Board Member Ramon Guio Ortega Jr. said PrimeWater’s legal counsel told the committee during a hearing that their operations were suspended on July 25, 2026, amid an ongoing contractual dispute, with water distribution reportedly restored on August 16, 2026.

The committee is requesting a formal explanation from PrimeWater including the reported lack of prior notice to affected concessionaires.

BM Ortega said that the committee will continue to conduct hearings and monitoring to address complaints and ensure consumers and businesses receive reliable water service.
