LUCENA CITY, Quezon, Philippines —The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the Quezon Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (QPITIPC), and partner agencies supported child labor victims through the Project Angel Tree in Quezon Province.
The initiative was held on September 23, 2026, to celebrate the seventh anniversary of institutionalizing the National Council Against Child Labor (NCACL), bringing together government and private sector partners to strengthen awareness and support efforts towards child labor prevention and elimination.
The activity brought together 100 survivors of child labor and their families from different areas of Quezon for learning sessions on child protection, child labor laws, an Information and Services Caravan, and gift-giving activities.
As one of the “Angels” of the project, TLI provided 100 bags containing raincoats and hygiene kits for the children.
Aboitiz Power also shared scholarship opportunities, emphasizing that education can help the beneficiaries pursue their aspirations. “We are one with DOLE in its advocacy to protect children from child labor.
”It is an honor for TLI to support Project Angel Tree and hopefully help ease some of the challenges faced by these children and their families,” said Lou Jason Deligencia, AboitizPower Transition Business Group AVP for Corporate Services for South Luzon and Metro Manila.
Child beneficiaries receiving gifts from the private-sector partners during the Project Angel Tree activity, as part of their efforts to support their well-being and promote a brighter future for these children and their families Ma. Angelique E. Yaun, supervising labor and employment officer for DOLE’s Technical Support and Services Division – Employment Promotion and Workers’ Welfare (TSSD-EPWW), expressed her gratitude to their private-sector partners for supporting this advocacy.
“Through the programs of our government and with the help of our private-sector partners, let us continue working together to find ways to eliminate child labor,” said Yaun. (Sa tulong ng programa ng ating pamahalaan at sa tulong na rin po ng ating mga katuwang mula sa pribadong sektor, sama-sama po nating gawan ng paraan upang puksain itong ating usapin sa child labor.) Beyond providing reliable and responsibly produced power, TLI continues to help empower the Filipino youth by supporting initiatives that promote their well-being, education, and development.
