Magalong pursuing a sustainable and resilient future for Baguio

Mayor Benjamin Magalong delivered an insightful message during the Empowering Communities on Sustainable Development and Low-Carbon Transition activity held at Ion Hotel, Legarda Road, Baguio City

In his message, Mayor Magalong stressed the importance of actively pursuing the Sustainable Development Goals and reducing carbon emissions.

He noted the increasingly drastic changes occurring in our environment, such as rising ocean temperatures and the more intense occurrence of typhoons. Notably, 2024 was recorded as the warmest year in the planet’s history, while 2022 saw the highest rate of carbon emissions ever recorded.

In response to these challenges, Mayor Magalong is preparing the city to be resilient with the launch of the Resiliency Program, which has been effectively implemented since last year. However, he acknowledged that the city has a long way to go to achieve the true definition of a resilient city.

Nevertheless, the city remains steadfast in its commitment to building resilience by 2030. He urged the city leaders to join him in this pursuit.

Together, we strive towards a sustainable and resilient future for our city.
