La Union breaks ground on 3 Agricultural Infrastructure Projects

BALAOAN, La Union, Philippines – Three historic projects for the welfare of farmers were simultaneously groundbreaking at one site, to strengthen the agricultural sector in the province of La Union.

Governor Mario Ortega, with the full support of the Provincial Council led by Vice Gov. Eric Sibuma, led the groundbreaking of the Bungol Demonstration Farm Facilities, Provincial Storage Facility with Solar Dryer and the turnover of the Provincial Greenhouse Nursery, in Brgy. Bungol, Balaoan, La Union, on June 25.

These three projects will serve as the foundation for the long-term growth and development and food security of every Elyucano throughout the province.

Among the facilities to be built at the Bungol Demonstration Farm are the Farmers’ Training Center, Perimeter Fence, Small Farm Reservoir, and Farm Machinery Library to provide farmers with access to technology and productivity.

Along with this, the Provincial Storage Facility with Solar Dryer will help in the post-harvest management of farmers in various towns.

La Union also has a dedicated propagation hub after the turnover of the Provincial Greenhouse Nursery which will further strengthen the mass production of high-value crops and open up many more opportunities.

PGLU also expresses its great gratitude to the Department of Agriculture, Local Government Unit of Balaoan, and all farmers and stakeholders of agriculture in the province.

According to Ortega, these projects are for the Agkaysa service of PGLU, which is not only for the development of infrastructure and agriculture, because it is a concrete way for the government to directly deliver services to the Elyucanos.
