BUKIDNON, Philippines — KaBamboohayan, a community-based program by Aboitiz Renewables Inc. and Aboitiz Foundation in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, won gold in the “Social (Relations with Local Communities)” category of the INQ ESG Edge Impact Awards 2026 organized by the Inquirer Group of Companies.
KaBamboohayan trained 25 Higaonon farmers in bamboo propagation, nursery management, and processing, providing an opportunity for stable and predictable earnings via the Santiago Diversified Farmers Association.
At the same time, through bamboo cultivation, the program contributes to enhancing forest cover and supporting soil fortification in landslide-prone areas.
Last year, Aboitiz Power Corporation — Aboitiz Renewables’ parent company — won a gold award for “Governance, Reporting and Transparency” and a silver award for its sitio electrification efforts in Davao City through its distribution utility Davao Light and Power Company.
