Police recovers IED, ammunitions, subversive documents in Zambales mountain

IBA, Zambales- Police operatives here recovered cache of improvised explosive devices, assorted ammunitions, and subversive documents buried in the mountainous community of Poon-Bato, in the town of Botolan.

Botolan Municipal Police Station Chief P/Major Janine Piga, said the joint operatives from Zambales Police Intelligence and Surveillance Division,1st Police Mobile Force Command, Zambales SWAT, conducted ISO operation near Mt. Piera, Sitio Dingin, Old Poon Bato, Botolan, Zambales.

The said operation resulted in the recovery of one piece improvised explosive device (IED), 4 pieces rifle grenades, three hand grenades, blasting caps, detonating cords, sizeable number of ammunitions for various calibers, magazines, CPPP/NPA/NDF flag and campaign documents, and other subversive paraphernalia.

The report said that at about 3:00 AM, joint police operatives conducted operations in Mt. Piera, along with former member of CPP/NPA/NDF who informed the police about the location where explosive, ammunitions, and other materials were buried by terrorist group.

Prior to the operation, on May 24, 2025, Cabangan MPS reported about the sighting of armed group in their area of responsibility; on June 6 and June 7, reports of alleged movement of armed men in separate areas in nearby Botolan town, as reported by 1st Police Mobile Force Company.

Recovered subversive materials were brought to Botolan MPS for documentation.
