The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) collected PhP203.581 billion in taxes in September 2026, up by PhP20.056 billion or 10.93 percent from the same month last year, reflecting the government’s efforts to improve tax collection and compliance.
In a Palace press briefing, Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer said the BIR, under Commissioner Charlito Mendoza, continues to strengthen tax collection through improved services, simpler payment processes, and taxpayer assistance.
Castro said Mendoza attributed the increase to responsible taxpayers who voluntarily comply with tax rules and the BIR’s proactive efforts to help taxpayers meet their obligations.
With better services and easier tax payment procedures, the BIR aims not only to meet but also to exceed its collection targets.
The Marcos administration remains committed to responsible management of public funds, with the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) overseeing the proper use of government resources.
The government continues to strengthen tax collection and promote accountability and transparency to ensure that public funds support programs and services that benefit the Filipino people. | PND
