PGLU gathers tourism stakeholders in La Union Tourism Summit 2026

LA UNION, Philippines — The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), through the La Union Provincial Tourism Office (LUPTO), marks its sixth La Union Tourism Summit this September 25, 2026.

The summit, held at the Speaker Pro-Tempore Francisco I. Ortega Convention Center, Brgy. Sevilla City of San Fernando, La Union brings together local artists, tourism students, tourism officers and emerging talents to mark the culmination of Tourism Month and showcase La Union’s culture, traditions, and artistry through both traditional and digital platforms.

In his message, Governor Mario Ortega shared his vision for the future of tourism in La Union, underscoring initiatives such as the upcoming Tourism Center in San Juan with audiovisual rooms, and immediate medical support for tourists, alongside a comprehensive tourism safety policy.

Provincial Administrator and OIC-LUPTO Dr. Ramon B. Torres also highlighted the summit’s theme of using digital and AI-driven approaches to redesign tourism, strengthen partnerships, and create sustainable opportunities that protect culture while improving lives.

The governor also acknowledged the continued support of Vice Governor Eric O. Sibuma and Committee Chairperson on Tourism, Sisterhood, and International Relations Hon. Alyssa Kristine B. Sibuma in advancing the province’s tourism agenda.

The summit’s morning sessions cover practical takeaways for the tourism industry of La Union. University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman Dr. Karminn C. D. Daytec Yañgot emphasized that authenticity must lead technology in cultural tourism, reminding them, “You are bearers of your own culture”. CEO of ANCI Prime Sales & Marketing Corporation Nestor “Next” Layderos highlighted that sustainable ecotourism thrives when digital ecosystems empower local communities as both stewards and beneficiaries in his topic of Digital Ecosystems and Sustainable Ecotourism Management.

“We use digitalization to feel more La Union”, encouraging strategies and tips on how they would let tourists enjoy the province more through technology.

The event also featured the La Union Tourism Quiz Blitz, testing participants’ knowledge of the province’s tourism spots, laws and policy, and industry topics.
