CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro, Philippines — Representatives of cooperatives and associations in Bulalacao town took part in a training program on breadfruit (or rimas) production, processing and marketing aimed at helping them develop potential livelihood ventures and expand their enterprise opportunities.

Organized by the Provincial Cooperative Development Office (PCDO), the training provided participants with additional knowledge and skills in producing, processing and marketing breadfruit, with the goal of turning the locally available crop into value-added products and potential sources of income.

Participants expressed appreciation to the Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro and Sangguniang Bayan Member Ramon G. Magbanua for providing transportation for those who attended the training.

In a statement, the PCDO organizers said similar capacity-building activities would continue in other parts of the province to bring training opportunities closer to cooperatives and community-based organizations.

“These activities will continue in other parts of the province to help cooperatives strengthen their organizations, develop entrepreneurial skills, and identify new opportunities for livelihood and enterprise development,” the organizers said.

The Municipal Cooperative Development Office (MCDO) of Bulalacao also played a key role in coordinating with local cooperatives and associations and facilitating their participation in the activity. (AS/JBG/PIA MIMAROPA-Oriental Mindoro)
