Public Information Officers from cities and municipalities across Cebu, together with the Cebu Provincial Government and the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), gathered on July 16, for the 3rd Quarter General Assembly of the Cebu Association of City and Municipal Public Information Officers (CAOCAMPIO) hosted by the Municipality of Tuburan.

The assembly strengthened collaboration among government communicators as they discussed upcoming initiatives aimed at promoting literacy, particularly among young Cebuanos, and reinforcing the role of information officers in helping communities become more discerning consumers of information.

The participants likewise reaffirmed their commitment to work together in combating misinformation through timely, accurate, and responsible public communication, recognizing that information officers play a crucial role in building public trust and ensuring that verified information reaches every Cebuano.

As host local government unit, the Municipality of Tuburan also shared its best practices in tourism development, the promotion of its thriving coffee industry, and sustainable livelihood programs, giving fellow information officers valuable insights on effectively communicating local success stories and development initiatives.

The gathering also served as a venue to discuss the association’s upcoming activities and collaborative projects, highlighting the shared commitment of local government communicators to strengthen public information, promote media and information literacy, and foster a more informed and empowered Cebu.
